ResumoBrazil's climate is largely affected by processes influenced by the Atlantic Ocean. One of these cases is the oceanic South Atlantic Convergence Zone (SACZ) that is a precipitation system derived from South American Monsoon System (SAMS). Oceanic SACZ, assumes characteristics of Atmospheric River and produces excessively anomalous amount of precipitation during the period while it is active. Besides that, the oceanic part of SACZ has also the power to modify the sea surface ocean, by cooling it. This is not a quite novel discover that oceanic SACZ has this effect onto SST. However, what is novel are the mechanism by which this sea surface cooling happens. It was belief that the short-wave blocking caused by the SACZ cloud cover was the mechanism. However recently we've learnt that this history is more complex, and that the sea surface cooling is a combination of a complex air sea interaction interplay. A combination of numerical simulations and in situ observations have pointed to those processes. Less heat is southward transported by the oceanic currents that arrive on the underneath SACZ region and contrary of what was thought. We investigate oceanatmosphere interaction processes in the Southwest Atlantic during some episodes, as well as the resulting modulations occurring in the oceanic mixed layer and their feedback on the marine atmospheric boundary layer (MABL). Our learning ends with the unprecedented results of how MABL is locally modulated by the sea surface temperature (SST) that lies just below it. Until the present moment, we emphasize that this important mechanism has not been widely highlighted in the literature, showing that even though the ocean is colder than before oceanic SACZ is established, it is still warmer than the overlying air, thus, the ocean continues to be an active source of heat and moisture for the atmosphere and enhances the MABL instability process.
